고트하르트 베이스 터널(Gotthard Base Tunnel)

알프스 산맥을 사이에 두고 스위스와 이탈리아를 잇는 세계 최장길이의 터널(57㎞)이다. 1996년에 착공하였고, 2010년 10월 15일에 동쪽 터널이 관통되었다. 개통은 2017년 말로 예정되어 있다. 공사비는 약 98억 3천만 스위스 프랑에 이른다. 시점은 스위스 우리 주의 어스트펠트이며, 종점은 이탈리아의 밀라노이다. 출처 위키백과

시공사인 Alp Transit Gotthard AG사는 오는 6월 1일 고트하르트 베이스 터널을 운영기관인 Swiss Federal Railways SBB에 양도할 예정이다.

고트하르트 베이스 터널은 시험 운행을 거쳐 12월 11일부터 본격적으로 개통된다.
