Thought the Amazon's boiling river was bizarre? Nature's other surreal spectacles include flowering deserts and rainbow trees
- Geoscientist Andrés Ruzo found a river in the Amazon that boils victims alive, due to being heated by hot springs
- In Hawaii, there are kaleidoscope-coloured trees with bark that look like works of art created by a talented painter
- From Red Sprites in the sky to methane bubbles under a lake, here are some of earth's more spectacular processes
Earlier this week geoscientist Andrés Ruzo revealed that he'd found a four-mile long river in the Amazon so hot it boils.
But it's far from the only bizarre natural phenomenon Mother Nature has up her sleeve.
Other incredible treasures planet Earth offers include underwater vortexes and an island dominated by 43million crabs.
And in Hawaii, there are kaleidoscope-coloured trees that look like works of art.
The spectacular effect is created when 'rainbow' eucalyptus trees shed their bark revealing green, orange and purple splashes beneath.
Here MailOnline Travel shares some of the most stunning and unusual natural phenomena that occur around the world.
