The hotel will be set within the Palm Tower, a 52-storey building planned for Dubai's Palm Jumeirah, the world's largest artificial island.

Feb 2 Dubai's Nakheel has awarded a 1.4 billion dirham ($381.19 million) contract to China State Construction Engineering Corp and Korea's Ssangyong Engineering and Construction to build a three-tower complex.

The St Regis Dubai, The Palm will be part of Nakheel's Palm Tower, and its pool will run across all four sides of the tower, offering panoramic views with your swim (and at 700 ft above sea level). Apartments range from one to three bedrooms and will be available on lease.

The Palm Monorail will remain operational throughout the construction of the project, the statement added.

Originally launched in 2008, the Palm Gateway project was scheduled to be completed in 2011.

The Palm Tower will be built close to the upcoming Nakheel Mall, a Dhs2.5billion shopping complex with 418,000 square metres of retail space. Construction is underway, following the award of a contract worth AED819million in October past year.

Starwood said 289 guest rooms and suites will span the first 18 floors of Palm Tower, and the upper floors will have 504 luxury apartments.

One of the world's largest hospitality chains has revealed plans for a stunning new luxury hotel that boasts a 360-degree infinity pool on the 50th floor.

Nakheel is now growing its residential leasing portfolio, which is set to increase to more than 20,000 units, with other new developments coming to Palm Jumeirah, Warsan Village, Jebel Ali, Dragon City and Nad Al Sheba.

Nakheel has seven hotels and resorts - featuring almost 3,000 rooms - open, under construction or in the design stage.
