사우디 주택부는 현재 터키 회사들과 약 2백만호에 이르는 사우디 주택건설에 대해 논의하고 있다.
터키의 한소식통에 의하면 사우디주택건설을 위한 컨소시엄을 구성하는 매우 중요한 단계에 접어들었다고 아랍뉴스에 전했다. 2,400억불이 소요되는 초대형 주택 프로젝트이다.
사우디 주택부의 모하메드 알 두가일비 대변인은 장관이 곧 상세한 추진현황을 발표할 것이라고 밝혔다.
한편 터키 소식통에 의하면 최근 논의에서 터키 레제프 타이이프 에르도안 대통령 지난 12월말 사우디 방문 중 "프로젝트 일부가 이미 협의가 완료됐다"고 말했다.
터키 대통령의 방문과는 별개로 아델 알 주베이르 사우디 외무장관은 당초 예상보다 일찍 양국사이에 터키-사우디 '전략적 협력 위원회'를 구성하기로 발표했다.
사우디 장관은 "전략적 협력 위원회는 양국간 공동 기자 회견에서 "안보, 군사, 정치 ,경제 투자 에너지 분야등에서의 중점 협력하게 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.

The Saudi Ministry of Housing is currently in talks with a number of Turkish companies to build approximately two million residential units in the country.

Turkish sources told Arab News that the talks have made significant progress in forming a consortium of the construction firms in Turkey to implement the project, which could be worth around $240bn.
Mohammed Al-Dugailbi, spokesman for the Ministry of Housing, said that the ministry will soon issue a statement in this regard explaining all the details.
Meanwhile, some Turkish sources commented during recent meetings, saying "these negotiations were partially completed during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Saudi Arabia at the end of December."
Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir announced earlier the intention to form a Saudi-Turkish strategic cooperation council between the two countries on the sidelines of the visit of the Turkish president.
"The council will focus on security, military, political, economic, commercial, investment and energy issues," said the minister in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart.
