영국 고속철도 사업을 담당하는 High Speed 2 Ltd(HS2)는 1단계 구간인 런던-버밍엄 구간의 노반공사(£900m)를 담당할 입찰 대상자 목록을 12월 10일 발표하였다.
이번 입찰은 노반공사를 3공구로 나누어 입찰 공고 되었으며 입찰 대상자는 대상으로 2016년 초Invitation to Tender(ITT)가 발급될 예정이다.
HS2 이사장 Simon Kirby는 “이번 입찰 대상자 공고는 2017년 고속철도 사업의 첫 착공을 위한 중요한 발걸음이며 이를 발판으로 고속철도 사업은 영국 경제에 큰 활력을 불어넣을 것” 이라고 전했다.
HS2 Ltd는적격심사절차를 걸쳐 최종 협상 대상자가 선정되면 2017년 첫 시공에 들어갈 예정이다.

HS2 Ltd today published a shortlist of firms in the running to win a share of £900m of preparatory work ahead of the start of major civil engineering on the first stage of the project, between London and the West Midlands.

The enabling works contracts cover a range of activities including utility diversions, ecology surveys, archaeology, establishing site compounds, site clearance, demolition, ground remediation, watercourse activities, highways realignments, monitoring and instrumentation, structural reinforcements and drainage.
The work is split into three packages covering northern, central and southern sections of the route, with work expected to start on schedule in 2017.
The following have all been shortlisted for at least one package:

The shortlisted bidders are expected to be invited to tender in the spring, with contract award later in the year.
Simon Kirby, HS2 Ltd Chief Executive, said:
“Today’s shortlist marks an important milestone as we move towards the start of construction in 2017 and a real boost for the UK construction industry.”

Today’s announcement follows on from the Government’s decision to bring forward the Birmingham to Crewe section of the route six years ahead of schedule, bringing the benefits of HS2 further north, sooner – as well as confirmation of the HS2 budget in the Autumn Spending Review
