This past January, at the Honor Fraser Gallery in Los Angeles, artist Glenn Kaino showed A Shout Within a Storm, a mobile installation composed of more than 100 copper arrows pointing at an invisible target. Each arrow is reliant upon the other to create the fascinating illusion of arrows being hurled through the air. Born in Los Angeles in 1972, the fourth-generation Japanese-American received his Bachelor of Arts from UC Irvine in 1993 and a Master of Fine Arts from UC San Diego in 1996.
Last week, from March 5 to March 8, Honor Fraser Gallery brought out Kaino's arrow installation to The Armory Show, a leading international contemporary and modern art fair held in New York City. Visitors got to experience the installation up close and personal and many took their own creative photos standing next to it. Irene Kim, Director of VIP Relations for The Armory Show, appeared stoic as she stood with purse in hand right in line with the artwork. She wrote, "In front of one of the most 'instagrammed' artwork during Armory week."
