Technology is one of the biggest global drivers of advancement and CES is the place to see all the latest and greatest in consumer electronics. For just a few days, exhibitors, industry analysts, investors, and media all converge in one place to determine what lies ahead for the technology industry in the upcoming year.  This was the second year in a row we were able to attend.

This year, we put the spotlight on products that are in the best position to shape what the future is going to look like. They will most likely have a big impact on how many of us will live our lives.

You can always count on seeing the latest and greatest TVs at CES, and this year we saw a flurry of companies boast 4k and 8k. One standout company was LG, who seemed to make leaps and bounds from a year ago.  Their "perfect black" OLED TV, exhibited super crisp contrast, while Samsung's 3D TV left us standing with our jaws dropped.  The 3D experience is truly amazing now, with an intense combination of sharpness, depth, and colors.  It's a bit overwhelming at first, but I'm sure it's something many people could get used to.  Not to be outdone, Sony brought their super thin 4k TV, which looked extremely modern and classy.

3D printing is a technology that has the potential to change the world, but from a consumer standpoint, it seems like it's taking forever to develop really interesting products.  We're left a bit underwhelmed with plastic toys, yet the 3D food applications piqued our imaginations.

Drones exploded onto the scene this year, with a wide variety, and aerial performances that were quite impressive. Check out the video below to see a mesmerizing aerial show featuring synchronized drones.

This year, best-in-show went to Mercedes, who showed us what cruising in a luxury self-driving autonomous vehicle could look like.  The future of travel certainly looks bright.

Here are our highlights from CES 2015:

It will be interesting to see how 3d printing with food will develop in the coming years.

Marvel partnered up with 3D Systems to create custom action heroes.

Although the technology is amusing, it's still a bit gimmicky and not refined yet.

Parrot was one of the brands that stood out this year.  They had a variety of interesting products, including these automatic plant sensors.

Drones burst onto the scene at this year's CES.

With their synchronized drones, Parrot had one of the most impressive displays with this aerial show.

Both LG and Samsung were strong in the home appliances category.

One of the most impressive products was LG's OLED TV.  It claims to have the perfect black experience.

3D on a 8k TV is a really mind-blowing experience.  The colors, sharpness, and depth perception make the experience breathtaking, yet it takes some time getting used to the dizziness.

Sony brought their thinnest ever 4k TV.
