이 정도면 실력 뿐만 아니라 경영 면에서도 '독일 최강'을 자부할 만하다.   바이에른 뮌헨이 홈구장 알리안츠 아레나 건설대금을 16년 일찍 상환해 화제가 되고 있다.   칼 하인츠 루메니게 뮌헨 부사장은 21일(한국시각) 뮌헨 구단 홈페이지를 통해 "2005년 알리안츠 아레나 건설 비용으로 빌린 3억4600만유로(약 4821억원)를 모두 갚았다"고 밝혔다.   그는 "당초 25년이 지난 2030년까지 상환하는 조건으로 자금을 대출 받았다"면서 "하지만 우리는 겨우 9년 만에 빚을 모두 갚았다"고 자부심을 드러냈다.   울리 회네스 뮌헨 회장은 "건설 비용 조기 상환으로 연 2500만유로(약 348억원)의 수익 증가가 이뤄질 것"이라고 내다봤다. 부채 조기 상환에 성공한 뮌헨의 목표는 증축이다. 뮌헨은 7만137석인 현재 알리안츠 아레나의 규모를 7만5000석까지 늘릴 계획이다. 알리안츠 아레나 완공 당시 규모는 6만6000석이었으나, 2006년과 2012년 두 차례 증축으로 7만석 이상의 좌석을 확보했다.   알리안츠 아레나는 뮌헨 뿐만 아니라 2분데스리가(2부리그) 소속 1860뮌헨의 홈구장이기도 하다. 경기장 외벽은 에어패널로 구성되어 있다. 평상시 외벽은 흰색이나, 두 구단의 경기가 펼쳐질 때마다 상징색인 붉은 색과 푸른 색으로 바뀐다. 경기장 건설비용을 일부 지원하는 조건으로 명칭권을 사들였던 알리안츠 그룹이 지난 2월 뮌헨 지분을 일부 인수하면서 오는 2041년까지 알리안츠 아레나로 불리게 됐다. 스포츠 박상경 기자 ppark@sportschosun.com

 

FC Bayern settle Allianz Arena debts

Munich - FC Bayern München’s €346 million Allianz Arena stadium has been fully paid off - nearly 16 years ahead of schedule. Executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed in Bayern’s pre-match magazine ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash at home to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim that the club had paid off the 71,137-capacity arena only nine and a half years after its construction.   Rummenigge proud “We have financed our stadium completely by private means,” explained Rummenigge. “In 2005 we borrowed exactly €346 million in a 25-year plan, which was meant to last until 2030. Now we have paid the stadium off after only nine and a half years. I’m very proud of that.”   The 59-year-old also revealed that the extra funds will be pumped back into the Bundesliga leaders’ star-studded first-team squad, which already boasts the talents of Robert Lewandowski, Xabi Alonso, Franck Ribery and six FIFA Ballon d’Or nominees to name but a few. “It’s no secret that we made over half a billion euros in revenue in the 2013/14 season,” said the 59-year-old. “Revenue generated by the Allianz Arena will be invested in the quality of the team in future.”   State-of-the-art arena Construction work on the Allianz Arena began in 2002, with Bayern and local rivals TSV 1860 Munich - currently 15th in Bundesliga 2 - moving in three years later in May 2005. The venue boasts one of Europe’s biggest underground car parks and has become the envy of the continent in recent seasons.   The stadium’s exterior, however, is what truly sets it apart from other football venues: 2,760 diamond-shaped cushions cover the the periphery of the arena, which can be illuminated in red, blue or white depending on whether Bayern, 1860 or the German national team are in action.
