What is claimed to be largest sand-castle ever constructed has been built on a Brazilian beach.
Officials from the Guinness Book of World Records are assessing the structure which is more than 12 metres tall.
Archie Lionce, of Caterpillar Inc, which sponsored the bid said: “The castle is made of sand and water. It does have a very light mixture sprayed on the outside that actually keeps it held up for the wind, but that's it. It's all sustainable material and at the end of the day we'll be actually tearing the castle down and you'll see it's just sand and water,"
The structure was conceived by American sand artist Rusty Croft and a team of 15 artists worked on the project.
Twenty truckloads of sand were used to build the structure which stands on the shores of the city of Niteroi just across the Guanabara Bay from Rio de Janeiro. constructionweekonline |
