구글이 6억유로(7.7억불)규모의 초대형 데이터센터를 건설한다. 네덜란드 그로닝겐주 엠스하빈에 건설될 구글 데이터센터는 2017년 공사 완공을 예상하고 있으며 완공이후 지역활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 보고 있다 구글은 그동안 엠스하빈에 작은 규모의 서버를 운영해왔으며 건설되는 데이터 센터는 축구장의 40배 규모로 수만대의 서버가 운영될 예정이다.   엠스하빈은 세계 주요 인터넷의 분기점이며 미국으로 연결되는 인터넷라인 15개 중 11개를 운영하고 있다. 유럽경우도 이와 비슷하다. <에디터 황기철>     Google invests €600m in massive Groningen data centre Tuesday 23 September 2014 Search engine giant Google is to invest €600m in a huge data centre in the Eemshaven in Groningen province.   The investment will bring hundreds of new jobs to the province and put the Netherlands on the world map as a technological country, economic affairs minister Henk Kamp said.   Google has had a smaller server farm in Eemshaven for several years.   The new centre will host tens of thousands of servers and be as big as 40 football fields, according to Dutch media reports.   Eemshaven is close to a major internet junction, where 11 of the 15 internet cables linking the US and Europe come ashore.
