오만철도회사(ORC)가 턴키베이스로 발주한 2,244km 오만철도 프로젝트에서 세계 23개 시공자 컨소시엄이 PQ를 통과했다고 현지신문이 보도했다.
18개사는 토목분야, 5개사는 기술시스템분야에 참여했는데 이 프로젝트에는 당초 95개회사로 구성된 34개 컨소시엄이 참여한 바 있다.
공사착수는 1단계 소하르노선(Buraimi-Sohar 170km)구간의 시공자 선정 후 2015년 1/4분기로 예정되어 있으며 2018년에 완공 및 운영이 가능해야 한다.
1단계 소하르 노선이 전 구간이 2018년에 개통하는 GCC Railway Project에 포함되어 있기 때문이다.
기본노선 설계는 이태리 국영철도회사인 Italferr로 결정됐으며 1단계외에 전구간을 설계할 것으로 알려졌으며 감리 등 PMC분야는 TecnicasReunidas와 도화 파슨스컨소시엄 중에 결정된다.
시종점 길이만 700km 노선폭이 140km에 이르는 이 프로젝트는 총 9단계로 나누어 순차적으로 시행하게 되며 최종 시공자는 올해 4분기내에 결정될 예정이다.
그러나 코트라에 따르면 1단계구간 외 나머지구간은 건설 및 운영에 상당한 시간이 필요할 것으로 보고 있다.
GCC Railway Project 발주처가 제시한 오만 철도프로젝트는 총 2,244km이지만 이는 장기적인 계획에 근거한 것으로 2018년까지 GCC Railway와 연계하여 완료되는 구간은 Buraimi-Sohar (170km)에 불과하며. 따라서 오만에 설비자재 등에 투자계획이 있는 한국기업은 주의가 필요하다. (코트라보고서 참조)

The Oman Railway Company (ORC) has prequalified a total of 23 consortiums for the 2,244km-long Oman national railway project bidding process, Times of Oman reports.
Eighteen consortiums have been pre-qualified for civil work, while another five consortiums for work on the project’s technology systems.
A senior official declined to name any of the pre-qualified companies.
ORC received 34 quotations from 95 local and international companies for prequalification for the project’s design-and-build civil infrastructure and railway track contract. Nine pre-qualification quotations were submitted by 14 local and international firms for the technology systems contract.
The construction work for the railway project is expected to start by the first quarter of 2015, after a design-and-build contractor for the first segment is selected.
The railway project is expected to be operational by 2018, the report added.
The 170km-long Sohar-Buraimi route is the first segment to be completed, according to the report.
The project, which is 700km long and 120km wide, is divided into nine segments.
The whole railway network will feature 30 small stations, 10 interim stations, six large stations and eight marshalling yards, the report said.
