인도네시아 술라웨이시, 규모 7.5 강진...최소 48명 사망     인도네시아 술라웨이시 섬에서 오늘(28일) 규모 7.5의 지진이 발생했습니다. 미국 지질조사국은 두 차례 감지된 이번 지진의 진앙지는 술라웨이시 섬 북동쪽 동가라 지역에서 56km 떨어진 곳이고, 진원의 깊이는 약 10km로 관측됐다고 밝혔습니다. 현지 당국은 쓰나미 주의보를 발령했습니다. 또 주민들에게 파손된 건물에 남아 있지 말고 안전한 곳으로 대피할 것을 당부했습니다. 최초 지진 발생 이후 적어도 *48명이 숨졌습니다. 희생자 규모는 더 늘어날 것으로 보인다고 현지 당국자는 말했습니다. 지진이 강타한 지역은 현재 통신이 끊긴 것으로 전해졌습니다. 인도네시아는 '불의 고리'로 불리는 환태평양 조산대에 있어 지진과 화산 분화가 빈번하게 발생합니다. 지난 7월에는 술라웨이시 섬에서 수 백 km 떨어진 휴양지 롬복 섬에서 수 차례 지진이 발생해 500여 명이 숨졌습니다. 지난 2004년 인도네시아 서부 수마트라에서는 규모 9의 강진과 함께 쓰나미가 발생해 이 일대 국가들에서 모두 23만 명이 숨졌습니다. Scores of people have been killed in Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, struck by a 7.7-magnitude quake, which triggered a tsunami that swept through two coastal towns. Dozens of houses have been flattened, burying victims under rubble.

Harrowing images have come from Indonesia, showing the scale of destruction that the Sulawesi quake inflicted on the towns of Palu and Donggala, located close to the epicenter of the quake that wrought havoc on the island on Friday afternoon.
