New studies on the cremated remains of 25 Neolithic people buried at the site show that nearly half of them lived nowhere near the now world-famous monument.

Ten of those cremated originated from western Britain, with five of those ten potentially from southwest Wales, where the rock type of the earliest Stonehenge monoliths originate from. The other 15 people may be local in the Wiltshire and Stonehenge area, or even the children or other relatives from the west.
