From the archives: Construction of Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Metro

This month marks four years since ground construction began on Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Metro. 

사우디 대역사 메트로 건설공사 시운전 착수

2014년 4월 착공된지 올해로 4년이 됐다.

230억불이 소요되는 대역사

총 176.7km 6개의 노선에 85개의 정거장이 들어선다.

역사 시설에는 태양광도 사용해 약 20% 전력사용도 절감할 계획이다.

3개 패키지로 나누어 시공되고 있으며

FAST가 주도하는 컨소시엄에 포함된 삼성물산은 4~6호선 3개 노선

(64.5㎞)과 24개 역사 건설에 참여하고 있다.

6호선은 차량공급사인 알스톰에 의해 시험운전이 시작됐으며 

내년 중 모두 개통될 예정이다.

Pre-construction activities began in 2012, and ground was broken on the billion-dollar megaproject on 3 April, 2014.

Six metro lines, named Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, and Purple are being developed as part of the project, which is worth approximately $23bn (SAR86.3bn).

The lines are respectively 38km, 25.3km, 40.7km, 29.6km, 12.9km, and 30km long.

A total of 85 stations will be developed for the metro network, and the facilities will use solar technology to save around 20% of the power required for air-conditioning and lighting, according to Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), the agency tasked with Riyadh Metro's development.
