Kuala Lumpur – Singapore HSR Public Inspection Programme Launched

A three month long Public Inspection programme for the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) Project started on 1 November 2017 and will continue until 31 January 2018, with 14 permanent booths at SPAD Offices and local councils in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor. Roadshow booths will also be placed in 29 public places, starting on 15 November 2017.

공개조사프로그램이 내년 1월 31일까지 시행된다. 

이를 위해 쿠알라룸푸르의 육상교통위원회(SPAD) 사무실과 각 지역에 14개의 

부스가 개설됐다.

Visitors will be able to view materials containing information about the HSR Project, including satellite images of the planned alignment and locations of the seven stations within Malaysia. Other information such as typical station features and layout, land acquisition plans, railway technical data and Socioeconomic Development Programme (SDP) for the HSR hubs are also available at the booths.

Public feedback can be submitted to staff members present at the roadshows or via MyHSR’s website.

The public’s input “will be used by MyHSR for further evaluation and improvement of the KL – Singapore HSR Project prior to submission to SPAD for approval” according to MyHSR’s Commercial Director Tonny Yeap.

First conceived in 2013, the 350 km Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail is expected to reduce travel time between Singapore and the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur to 90 minutes.

The project envisages the construction of a brand new rail line with dedicated tracks that will allow trains to travel at an operational speed of 320 km/h. It aims to facilitate seamless travel between the two capital cities, enhance business linkages, and connect the peoples of both countries closer together.

The line will consist of eight stations, seven of which will be in Malaysia:

1-Kuala Lumpur (Bandar Malaysia)

2-Bangi – Putrajaya

3-Seremban

4-Melaka

5-Muar

6-Batu Pahat

7-Iskandar Puteri

8-Singapore (Jurong East)

MyHSR Corporation presented the architectural concept designs for all seven Malaysian HSR stations during the “MyStations — Transforming Malaysia” event held at the Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur on 17 October 2017.

The Malaysian government intends to call for a tender by the end of 2017 to set up a privately financed asset company (“AssetsCo”) for the HSR project. The Joint Development Partner and Reference Design Consultant have already been appointed.

AssetsCo will be responsible for the design, build, finance and maintenance of rolling stock and the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance of rail assets such as trackwork, power, signaling and telecommunications.

The Infrastructure packages for the project will be awarded from the first quarter of 2018.
