현재 크라우드펀딩을 진행 중인 ‘씨어스95’는 세계 최초의 투명한 N95 등급 페이스 마스크다. 콜럼비아 대학의 디자인 및 소재 기술 담당 교수를 역임한 앨리스 민수 천은 기존 N95 마스크가 재활용이 불가하며 통증과 불편함을 유발한다는 점에 착안해 이 마스크를 개발했다.

씨어스95는 피부에 무해한 키토산과 실리콘으로 만들어져 피부 자극이 없으며, 귀끈이 없기 때문에 장시간 착용으로 인한 통증 또한 발생하지 않는다. 대나무, 실크, 은, 카본 등 자연 섬유로 제작된 N95 필터는 교체가 가능하고, 마스크는 물로 간편하게 세척이 가능하다.
