The Taliban came to Ms Gul's house because her father had complained about Taliban demands for tax payments, Abdul-Hamid Nateqi, a member of the Ghor provincial council, told the ABC.

The insurgents beat her parents before shooting them both dead, but Ms Gul grabbed her father's rifle and opened fire, killing two of the attackers and wounding a third, Mr Nateqi said.
Local reports said she and her younger brother continued to fight other Taliban before more of the villagers grabbed weapons and drove the attackers from the village.
A photo of the girl holding an AK-47 rifle went viral on social media, with many praising her bravery.
Interior ministry spokesman Tariq Arian called her a hero in a post on Twitter, adding the Afghan Government praised her courage.
The girl and her younger brother have been moved to a safer area under government protection, Mr Nateqi told the ABC.
He said their parents had been threatened and beaten by the Taliban before.

가벼운 옷차림으로 산책하는 여성 세 명이 검은 곰 한 마리를 만나 그 자리에 꼼짝하지 않고 서 있는 모습을 앞뒤 멀찌감치 있던 사람들이 찍어 올린 것이다.
사람 키보다 큰 곰은 두 발로 서서 그중 한 여성을 거의 부둥켜안은 자세로 한참 동안 열심히 냄새를 맡았다. 곰은 여성의 다리를 살짝 깨물기도 하고 앞발로 치기도 하며 관심을 보이다 아무도 해치지 않고 그대로 유유히 갈 길을 갔다.
산책로에서 곰을 만난 일도 놀랍지만, 사람들을 더 놀라게 한 것은 곰이 두 발로 서서 냄새를 맡는 순간 여성이 휴대전화로 자신과 곰의 셀카를 찍은 것이다.
영상이 공개되고 얼마 지나지 않아 문제의 셀카도 소셜미디어에 등장했다.

급하게 찍어 초점이 맞지 않은 사진은 여성의 얼굴 윗부분과 그 뒤에 있는 곰의 얼굴로 가득 찼다.
보기 드문 곰과의 셀카를 본 사람들은 여성의 '강철 심장'에 감탄하기도 했으나, 무모한 행동이라는 비난도 이어졌다.
현지 매체 인포바에에 따르면 트위터 상에선 "제대로 찍히지도 않은 사진에 목숨을 걸었다" "무모한 셀카다. 운이 좋았다"는 등의 반응이 나왔다.
영상과 사진이 화제가 되면서 문제의 곰은 당국의 '추적'을 받는 신세가 됐다.
누에보레온주 환경당국 관계자는 CNN 스페인어판에 "위험한 성질의 동물"이라며 혹시 모를 사고를 예방하기 위해 곰을 생포해 보호구역이나 동물원에 옮길 것이라고 말했다.

이날 인근 주택가에서 동일한 곰으로 추정되는 곰이 행인에 접근해 냄새를 맡는 영상이 공개되기도 했다.
당국은 곰을 만났을 때 달아나지 않고 그 자리에 가만히 있는 것은 올바른 대응이라면서도 셀카를 찍은 무모한 행위에 대해선 따끔하게 비판했다. 곰이 야생을 벗어나 사람들이 사는 곳에 출몰하지 않게 먹이를 줘서도 안 된다고 강조했다.
치핑케 공원 측은 성명을 내고 "곰이 사람에게 이렇게 접근하는 것은 인간이 유발한 비정상적 행동"이라며 "곰을 발견하면 접근하지 말고 멀어져야 한다. 사람과 동물의 목숨을 위험하게 하는 행동엔 단호하게 조치할 것"이라고 말했다.
