스웨덴 '아인라이드', 자율주행 트럭 시대 연다
DB쉥커, 코카콜라에서 시험 운영 중
스웨덴 자율주행 트럭업체인 ‘아인라이드(Einride)’가 원격지에서 다수의 자율주행 트럭을 제어하는 시연을 처음으로 선보였다고 포브스 등 매체들이 보도했다. 원래 직접 시연 현장을 공개할 계획이었으나 코로나19의 여파로 비디오 영상으로 대체했다.
아인라이드는 소수의 원격 운영자가 자율주행트럭 ‘아인라이드 팟(pod)’을 여러대 제어하는 ‘자율전기교통(Autonomous Electric Transport·AET)’ 플랫폼의 구축을 추진하고 있다. 아인라이드의 기본적인 아이디어는 원격지에 있는 운영자가 아인라이드 팟이 보내주는 비디오 영상을 보고 여러 대의 자율주행 트럭 운행을 제어하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.

Einride’s Autonomous Pod Trucks Now Schlepping Around Sweden There’s a lot of work available for autonomous trucks out there, if the technology is right. And the Swedish freight mobility provider Einride thinks it has the answer. Today, the company showed off a video of its remote autonomous truck operators for Autonomous Electric Transport (AET) in action. This first public showcase of the technology was all supposed to be provided through an in-person demo, but given the COVID-19 travel constraints, the news has been released virtually. So, as you can see in the video below, Einride’s basic idea is that one operator in a remote location can access video feeds from multiple autonomous shipping trucks as they ferry goods to and fro. When the autonomous technology has a problem, the vehicle requests support from the operator after entering a “safe state,” which means it will come to a stop or go park somewhere. The operator then steps in to control the vehicle around the obstacle or through the challenge. This technology, known as “human in the loop,” is set up to use 5G cellular networks, but can work over advanced 4G networks in some cases, Einride told me. ' via youtube View full text |

자율주행 트럭이 주행 중 문제가 생기면 원격 운영자에게 도움을 요청하고 트럭은 ‘안전 상태’로 전환된다. 안전 상태에서 트럭은 바로 정지하거나 주차 모드로 들어간다.

원격 운전자가 간여해 장애물을 피하거나 도전적인 상황을 해결한다는 점에서 ‘휴먼 인더 루프(human in the loop·HITL)’ 기술로 불린다. 원격 운전자와 자율주행트럭간 통신은 5G 또는 4G 통신망을 활용한다.
아인라이드는 한명의 원격 운영자가 최대 10대의 자율주행 트럭을 제어하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 미국의 경우 5만1000명의 트럭운전자가 부족한 것으로 분석되고 있는데 아인라이드는 AET 플랫폼이 운전자 부족을 해소하고 생산성을 높이는데 기여할 것으로 보고 있다. AET 기술이 운송회사의 에너지 비용과 운영비용을 각각 70%, 60%까지 줄여주고 생산성은 200% 높인다는게 회사측 설명이다.
한편 아인라이드는 지난 2018년부터 물류사업자인 DB쉥커(DB Schenker)와 제휴해 자율주행 트럭을 테스트 운영하고 있으며 스웨덴에 있는 코카콜라 사업부문과도 테스트를 진행하고 있다.
