BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Construction of the Beijing Daxing International Airport was completed as scheduled on Sunday, and preparations have started for the operation of what is expected to be one of the world's busiest air traffic hubs.

세계 최대 규모 中 '베이징 다싱 신공항' 준공 9월말 개항     세계 최대 규모인 중국 베이징 신공항이 준공돼 오는 9월 말 개항을 위한 작업이 순조롭게 이뤄지고 있다. 1일 중국신문망(中國新聞網)에 따르면 베이징 남쪽 외곽 다싱에 위치한 다싱(大興)공항은 전날 마지막 단계 공사를 마무리하고 공항 운영 준비 작업에 돌입했다. 다싱공항 건설 공사는 지난 2014년에 시작됐으며 오는 9월 30일 개통될 예정이다. 불가사리 모양의 외관을 한 신 공항은 2025년까지 연간 7천200만명의 승객과 화물 200만t을 처리하고 이착륙 횟수는 62만 차례에 이를 전망이다. 장기적으로는 연간 1억명의 승객과 화물 400만t, 이착륙 88만 차례의 처리능력을 갖춰 세계 최고 공항으로 자리매김할 것으로 보인다.   다싱공항은 개항시 활주로 4개를 갖추며 향후 활주로를 7개로 늘릴 방침이다. 공항 전체 면적은 47㎢로 현재 중국에서 가장 큰 베이징 서우두(首都) 공항의 배가 넘는다. 중국 3대 항공사 가운데 중국동방항공과 중국남방항공은 다싱공항으로 근거지를 옮긴다. 또한 허베이 항공, 상하이 항공, KLM, 에어프랑스, 델타 항공 등이 소속된 스카이팀도 신공항으로 이동할 것으로 전해졌다. 항공업계에 따르면 한국 항공사인 대한항공과 아시아나항공은 서우두공항에서 다싱공항으로 옮길 계획이 당장은 없다. 하지만 향후 신규 노선을 개설하거나 증편할 때 일부 항공편은 다싱공항을 이용하게 될 가능성이 있다. 연합뉴스/한국경제

In the first half of this year, projects including the airport's main construction, air traffic control and aviation oil facilities, and interlinked expressways and high-speed railway have been completed on schedule and given the green light to be put into operation.

"It is the world's largest integrated transportation hub. The terminal building is also the world's largest built with a seamless steel structure, boasting the world's first design of double-deck departure and double-deck arrival platforms," said Bai Henghong, director of the Beijing Daxing International Airport project command of Beijing Construction Group.

Six major test runs are arranged to further assess the airport's operation readiness and fix possible problems. There will be a total of 787 tests involving 500 flights and some 52,000 simulated passenger trips.

The airport, scheduled to be operational before Sept. 30, will become a pivotal air traffic hub for international travel to and from China, supporting China's growth to become the world's largest civil aviation market, which is forecast to be around the mid-2020s.

Located 46 km south of downtown Beijing, it was designed to take the pressure off the overcrowded Beijing Capital International Airport in the northeastern suburb.

It is forecast to see its passenger throughput reach 72 million in 2025, and further increase to 100 million by 2040, when it is likely to surpass Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States to become the world's largest airport in passenger throughput.
