Stunning new images taken just METRES away show a firehose of lava pouring from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano

  • Molten lava from Kilauea volcano in Hawaii is dumping directly into the Pacific
  • Jon Cornforth, a photographer from Hawaii, captured the stunning images while standing metres away
  • The massive lava stream is roughly 1-2 metres wide, spewing as a 'single large spout'
  • This creates dangerous explosions as the hot lava interacts with the cool sea

Earlier this month, a portion of cliff collapsed at the Kilauea volcano's Komokuna ocean entry, sending a remarkable lava firehose shooting into the air.

Now, stunning new images have emerged of the phenomenon, taken by a brave photograph standing just metres from the lava.

A steady stream of lava can be seen gushing from a hole in the side of the cliff, striking up bursts of debris as it collides with the water.
