2020년 도쿄(東京) 올림픽 주 경기장이 될 신국립경기장의 새 정비계획과 관련해, 일본 스포진흥센터(JSC)의 이케다 다카쿠니(池田貴城) 이사는 16일, 건설 공사 착공이 “순조롭게 진행되면 내후년(2017년) 연초가 될 것”이라는 전망을 밝혔다.  이날, 연말에 진행될 설계•시공업자 선정을 앞두고 외관 이미지와 총 공사비용을 기재한 응모업체의 ‘기술 제안서’ 제출을 마감했다. 내년에는 설계를 실시한다. JSC는 이날, 10월 하순에 철거 공사를 마친 구 경기장 부지를 보도진에 공개했다.일대의 텅빈 부지는 흙먼지가 날리는 것을 방지하기 위해 심어진 토끼풀로 뒤덮여 있었다. JSC의 오히가시 가즈미(大東和美) 이사장은 “매우 광활하다는 느낌을 받았다. 더 훌륭한 경기장이 들어서면 좋겠다는 마음이 크게 들었다”고 말했다. 새 경기장 부지는 주변 토지도 포함해 구 경기장의 약 1.5배인 11만 3천 제곱미터로 늘어났다. 도쿄 돔 약 2.4개 분에 상당하는 면적이라고 한다.【교도통신】

Construction of the main stadium for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is on course to start in early 2017, the Japan Sport Council said Monday.

"If all goes well, it will begin around the start of the year after next," said Takakuni Ikeda, a JSC board member.

Monday was the deadline for submission of plans for the new National Stadium detailing the overall design and cost. Blueprints will be requested next year.

The amount of land allotted for the new stadium will be 113,000 square meters, roughly 1.5 times the size of the old one, demolition of which was completed late last month.
