14일 오전 9시 43분께, 구마모토현 아소산(熊本県•阿蘇山)의 나카다케(中岳) 제1화구에서 분화가 발생, 분연이 화구에서 2,000m 높이까지 분화했다. 기상청은 분화 경계 레벨을 2(화구 주변 규제)에서 3(입산 규제)으로 상향 조정해 큰 분석이 화구에서 1km 이상까지 날아갈 가능성이 있다며 엄중한 경계를 호소했다. 구마모토현 경찰에 따르면 부상자는 확인되지 않았다. 야마우에(山上)광장과 주위에 있던 관광객 등은 아소산 케이블카 역사에 피난하는 등으로 밝혔지만 구마모토현 경찰에 따르면 전원이 하산했다. 기상청에 따르면 향후도 분화가 지속되면 아소시와 미나미아소무라(南阿蘇村)에서의 다량의 화산재가 떨어질 가능성이 있어 불필요한 외출과 차량의 운전을 삼가도록 당부하고 있다. 일본 정부는 수상 관저의 위기관리센터에 정보연락실을 설치, 야마다니 에리코(山谷えり子) 방재담당대신은 “안전 확보에 만전을 기하도록 바란다”고 관계 부처에 지시했다. 기상청은 경계 레벨을 상향 조정한 데 앞서 기존 규모를 웃돈 분화시 등을 발표하는 ‘분화속보’를 8월 운용 개시 후 처음으로 발표했다. 나카다케 제1화구는 지난해 8월 30일 분화 경계 레벨이 2로 격상돼 화구에서 반지름 1km 이내의 출입을 금지했다. 지난해 11월 이후는 높이 1천∼1,500m급의 분연이 단속적으로 지속돼 오이타현(大分県) 등 광범위에 화산재가 떨어졌다. 후쿠오카(福岡) 관구 기상대에 따르면 지하에 있는 마그마가 괴인 곳의 팽창은 3월 무렵부터 정체돼 있었지만 화산 활동의 지표가 되는 고립형 미동(孤立型微動)과 화산성 지진이 증가됐었다.【교도통신】 |

Mount Aso, a volcano on Japan’s main southern island of Kyushu, erupted on Monday, Japan’s Meteorological Agency said, blasting a plume of black smoke 2km (1.2 miles) high, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The 1,592-metre (5,222ft) Mount Aso is one of the most active peaks in Japan but is also a popular hiking spot. There were a handful of people at a parking lot near the peak but they were being evacuated safely, officials said.
They said the eruption had come without warning.
Kyushu Electric Power Co said the eruption would have no impact on its nuclear plants, one of which – the Sendai nuclear plant, roughly 160km (100 miles) south of Mount Aso – was restarted in August.
Television footage showed black smoke boiling into the sky and ash was falling as far away as 4km (2.5 miles) away, NHK national television said.
Japan lies on the “Ring of Fire” – a horseshoe-shaped band of fault lines and volcanoes around the edges of the Pacific ocean – and is home to more than 100 active volcanoes.
Mount Ontake in central Japan erupted unexpectedly in 2014, killing 63 people, the worst volcanic disaster for nearly 90 years. In May, a remote island south of Kyushu was evacuated due to another eruption.
