Images of Audrey Hepburn, previously unseen in the UK, will be exhibited as part of "Audrey Hepburn: Portraits Of An Icon", which opens at London's National Portrait Gallery this July.

The selection of 35 photographs will include images spanning the entire life of the 20th-century icon, from when was nine years of age to a photoshoot with Steven Meisel in 1991, two years before her death. The exhibition will also include works by Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn, and Norman Parkinson (see Richard Avedon's Grandson Shoots Audrey Hepburn's Granddaughter).

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see the actress in her days as a chorus girl and dancer in the Netherlands, behind-the-scenes shots from films such as Sabrina (1954) and The Nun's Story (1959), and photos of her later philanthropic work .

The National Portrait Gallery is able to show these images thanks to donations from Hepburn's sons, Luca Dotti and Sean Hepburn Ferrer, making this the first photographic exhibition in the UK of the icon supported by the Audrey Hepburn Estate.

“We are thrilled to be able to support this comprehensive and beautifully curated exhibition dedicated to our mother as it allows me and my brother Sean to grasp fragments of an otherwise unreachable past," Dotti said in a press release. "She would be honored to have an exhibition dedicated to her at the National Portrait Gallery," he added.

"Audrey Hepburn: Portraits of an Icon" will be on view at London's National Portrait Gallery from July 2 – October 18 2015.
