U.S. House passes bill to pressure developing countries to do their part to punish North Korea

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill designed to clamp down on countries that do not show a determination to pressure North Korea.

Called the World Bank Accountability Act of 2017, the bill will allow Washington to oppose the provision of assistance to the borrowing countries of the International Development Association if the U.S. President determines that government has not fully implemented or enforced UN sanctions on Pyongyang.

Seventy-seven countries are part of the IDA.

Included are nations with less than 1,2-hundred-15 dollars of per capita income, such as Uganda, Tanzania, Syria and Cambodia.

The bill now awaits Senate approval before it heads to Trump's desk for his signature.
