최근 페이스북에 올라온 동영상에는 믿지 못할 상황이 벌어졌다.

한 보링장비가 SUV차량을 수평으로 뚫고 있는 것이다.

분명한 것은 이러기 위해 의도적으로 설치한 것은 아니라는 점이다.

보링장비 회사나 SUV 차량 주인이나 재수 없는 날임에는 틀림없다.

Directional boring, or horizontal directional drilling, is a common method for installing underground pipe and conduits, among others.  Its main benefit is that it minimally disturbs the areas around where your pipe or cable needs to be installed.  Instead of cutting concrete, asphalt, or ripping up landscaping, the boring machine digs a tunnel underground and the installing material slides in after it’s complete. 

That’s what it’s SUPPOSED to do anyway.  In a recent video posted to Facebook, you’ll see what happens when directional boring goes wrong.  Apparently no one was spotting the end of the drill and it broke through ground to daylight and attempted to drill its way through an unsuspecting SUV. Not a great day for the drilling company or the owner of the SUV.
